Instagram's main function is to give all your photographs a much more elegant aspect with the help of a series of filters and unique frames, some of which include very popular ones like XPro-II, Earlybird, Lo-fi, Sutro, Toaster, Brannan, Inkwell, Walden, Hefe, Nashville or 1977, to name a few relatively known examples.
However, what has really made Instagram popular is its social feature, which allows you to follow determined users to see which pictures they upload to the Internet at all times, or tag photos and find them through 'hashtags'. This way, it is very simple to follow a photographic trend and instantly glance the snapshots of users around the world.

Photos, short videos, animated GIFs … developers keep trying to reinvent both static and moving images to offer the same thing but with a different flavor. Instagram has just stuck its own iron in the fire here with the release of Boomerang, a new service to capture and post looping 2-second videos which is the second new addition to the family it started just recently with the release of Layout. Instagram releases Layout, its own collage-creating app
It’s odd, considering its status and media impact, that Instagram hasn’t gotten on this particular ball before. Layout is a completely independent tool that lets you create collages of your photos and manipulate them as desired (including with filters). You can post your collages to both Instagram and Facebook or any other social network associated with your smartphone. Having already been launched for iOS, Layout has now just been launched for Android.
